Tengku Firmansyah once took flight school at Phoenix Aviation School, Arizona, United States, in order to realize his dream of becoming a pilot. After studying at flight school for nine months, the father of three children was able to fly a plane.

He then continued his pilot education at the Indonesian Aviation College Curug, West Java. While pursuing his dream of becoming a pilot, Firman tried his luck in the world of entertainment. He entered a modeling contest in 1996 which turned out to be the beginning of his success in the world of entertainment. At that time he was still 19 years old.
After winning the model competition, Tengku Firmansyah received an offer to star in the soap opera Lupus Trio Detective. He also pursued the world of entertainment by acting and buried his dream of becoming a pilot, which had been his dream since childhood.
