Brilio.net - Inspiration for writing can come from anywhere. Not a few screenwriters ultimately choose to turn someone's life story into a film. Apart from being based on a true story, there are quite a few who adapt stories from novels.
However, the production house Nant Entertainment actually adapted a song into a comedy drama genre film. Yep, this production house has just finished working on a film entitled Mendung Tanpo Udan which is adapted from the song of the same name by Kukuh Prasetya Kudam. This work is also Kris Budiman's debut as a director.

"While working on this film, there were many things that made me learn and realize that making films is not easy. So the release of this film makes me proud. I feel this is extraordinary, because previously I only made videos to upload to social media. "This time my work can be enjoyed by many people. I hope this film can be accepted and appreciated," said Kris, quoted by brilio.net, Wednesday (21/2).
Meanwhile, the film script Mendung Tanpo Udan itself is the result of a collaboration between Tony C Sihombing, Gianluigi Christoikov, Kris Budiman, and Agit Romon. The film production preparation process lasted for one month, while the shooting process was completed in a fairly short time, namely 15 days. Not only that, this film also takes place in the city of Yogyakarta.

One of the scriptwriters, Gianluigi Christoikov, revealed that the song and novel Mendung Tanpo Udan have strength in terms of story. He also revealed his challenges while writing the film script. Gian had to learn Javanese in order to understand the storyline and choose several conflicts in songs and novels to be brought to the big screen.
"The problem is because I'm not Javanese, so I have to learn about the culture in Java, especially in Yogyakarta. And if we start from the book, there are a lot of conflicts in the book so I have to choose the right story to put on the big screen," he said.
Furthermore, Gian also said that the story of Mendung Tanpo Udan is quite light, so it can be enjoyed by all groups. He also hopes that this film can be an entertaining show.
The audience can enjoy the love journey of the characters Mendung and Udan in a fairly strong Javanese dialect. Not only that, the romance story and life dynamics shown in the film are also related to what many young people are experiencing today.
The process of selecting film actors also took place without a hitch. Nant Entertainment and Kris Budiman succeeded in attracting a number of actors and actresses with strong acting skills to play characters in the film.
This new film by Nant Entertainment and Kris Budiman stars Erick Estrada as Udan, Yunita Siregar as Mendung, Kery Astina as Awan, Marcell Darwin as Will, Tommy Limm as Cartolo, and Aulia Deas as Petri.

This latest work from Nant Entertainment is also the debut moment for actor Erick Estrada as the main character. In a press conference attended by brilio.net, Erick shared his first experience as the main actor in a feature film.
"Thank you to everyone who participated in this film for choosing the character Udan to be played by Erick Estrada. I hope that the Indonesian film will be hosted in its own country," said Erick.
Mendung Tanpo Udan tells the story of a final year student named Udan who is very obsessed with music. This obsession without realizing it made Udan an idealistic and stubborn person. Until one day Udan met and fell in love with a woman named Mendung.
Mendung herself is described as an intelligent woman who dreams of becoming an independent career woman. The relationship between two young people who have opposite dreams slowly gives rise to a conflict that forces them to choose between love and career. A story about the dreams and love of two young people will soon be shown in cinemas starting February 29 2024.
