Brilio.net/en - As the worlds most popular and flourishing chatting application, WhatsApp is currently used by at least 900 million people around the world. That number is predicted to grow, especially because the apps now offers a free lifetime service.

Yet surprisingly, there are many useful WhatsApp features apparently unnoticed by its users. As reported by DBWebsolution, Sunday (31/1), these are some features as well as valuable tips and tricks to message friends and family beyond text.

1. Find out who has read your message in a WhatsApp group

To find out, in an Android phone just do a long press on your message; this will reveals an i with a circle around it. Tapping on the i will show you who the message was delivered to, and read by.

For iPhone or iPad, just open a chat, swipe your message from left to right, see delivery and read notifications.

2. Deactivate picture auto-download

By default, WhatsApp will download every picture in the messages sent to you. If you dont want these pictures to overcrowd your storage or if you just want to save your internet bandwidth, just deactivate the auto-download feature.

To do that, go to Settings, then choose Chat Settings > Media Auto Download, then deactivate. This way will works for both iOS and Androids.

3. Disable last seen and the blue double-check read mark

Should you want some privacy or to get rid a feeling of being stalked, you may toggle your last seen timestamp, profile photo and status message between Everyone, My Contacts and Nobody. Just go to Settings > Accounts > Privacy for both iPhone and Androids.

4. Migrate to a new number

You may migrate to a new number without losing data and contacts. Just tap on menu then go to Settings > Account > Change Number for both iPhone and Android. Short after you insert a new number, WhatsApp will send you an unique code for confirmation.

5. Add an international number contact

If your friends live on another country, just remove the first 0 then add country code for that specific country before the mobile number. Example, just add +51 for Peru, +65 for Singapore, +60 for Malaysia, +61 for Australia, et cetera.

6. Create shortcut to any specific contact

You can chat directly with some specific contact without opening the WhatsApp application first. You can create shortcut by doing a long press on your contact to summon option to "add conversation shortcut button". The shotcut to your contact will appear at your phone home page.

7. Backup and restore WhatsApp messages

If you want to clear all the message but intend save any specific message to read later, just go to Settings > Chat Settings > Backup Conversation for Andoid phones. For iPhones, go to Settings > Chat Settings > Chat Backup.

8. Send a broadcast message

We dont suggest you to spam, but if you have a very important message for your digital community, for Androids, just tap to Menu > New Broadcast > Select all the contacts then type your message. For iPhone, tap the broadcast List Button > New List then filter from your contact list > Create.
