Brilio.net - Blackheads are a facial skin problem that generally begins to appear when a person reaches adolescence. In the medical realm, blackheads are a skin problem that arises due to blockage of skin pores by dirt, dead skin cells and sebum (the skin's natural oil). The blockage that accumulates in the pore cavity will then reveal lumps of dirt on the surface of the skin.

Blackheads can appear in two variants, namely whiteheads and blackheads. Whiteheads form when skin pores are blocked by layers of skin causing sebum and dirt to become trapped under the layers of skin. On the other hand, blackheads form when the skin pores remain open so that the dirt oxidizes due to interaction with air, producing a black color on the surface of the blackhead.

One type of skin that is often affected by this problem is oily skin. The reason is, this skin type tends to secrete a lot of sebum beyond normal limits due to the high level of activity of the oil glands. This condition can be influenced by hormonal factors and hot weather conditions which stimulate the enlargement of the pores and sebum glands, making it easier for dirt to stick and resulting in the formation of blackheads.

For those of you who are facing this problem, there is no need to be confused. The thing is, you can try using natural ingredients as an effective alternative solution to using commercial products.

One way is to use a mixture of sugar, honey and potato extract as reported by briliobeauty.net on Tuesday (6/2) from the Instagram account @mahh_diaries.

Sugar is actually often used as a natural scrub to remove dead skin cells and clean pores. This is because the fine texture of the sugar granules helps remove dirt and oil which form the ingredients for blackheads which clog pores. Well, using powdered sugar will provide a mild exfoliating effect which helps improve skin texture and reduce blackhead blockages which cause enlarged pores.

Honey is the result of bee extraction which is rich in antioxidants, enzymes, vitamins and minerals. This combination of components makes honey effective in helping the skin regeneration process and cleaning facial pores from dirt. Apart from that, honey also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which are useful in reducing potential skin problems that can be triggered by dirty pores, including blackheads.

Potatoes have many benefits for treating blackhead problems. Potatoes contain the enzymes papain and bromelain which work as agents to clean pores from blocked dirt such as sebum and dead skin cells. Apart from that, potatoes also contain the mineral in the form of potassium which is useful in maintaining the moisture balance of the skin, thereby helping reduce excess oil production which often aggravates the problem of blackheads.

You can use the three ingredients above by following these simple instructions.

Tools and materials:

1. 2 teaspoons fine granulated sugar
2. 1 potato
3. 1 teaspoon pure honey
