Brilio.net - The Merdeka Belajar curriculum which has been implemented since 2022 has brought a breath of fresh air to the world of education in Indonesia. Expected to improve the learning process, this curriculum encourages students to understand concepts more deeply and not just rely on memorization.

However, this transition has presented new challenges, especially for parents whose children are still in the early grades of elementary school. Recently, a mother shared her complaint on social media about the difficulties her child experienced while working on grade 1 Civics questions .

In his upload on TikTok @menikmati.hidup, he showed several questions that he considered too difficult for children of that age.

She even questioned the level of difficulty of the PKN questions. " Is this actually a PKN lesson for 1st grade elementary school students or a TWK question for the SKD of CPNS fighters? " said the mother in a disappointed tone.

The questions distributed included tasks to match the term deliberation consensus and asked students to write down the five symbols of Pancasila and attitudes that correspond to the principles. Although it looked simple, the mother considered that the material was too heavy and did not match the level of understanding of children who were just learning PPKN.

This upload also sparked various reactions from netizens, many of whom agreed that these questions were indeed too challenging for first graders. Various comments adorned the upload, some of whom admitted to feeling the same way when helping their children with their homework.

" Yes, khaan, when I helped my child with his homework, I felt like I was taking the CPNS exam ," wrote @Vie.

" wkwkkwwk I also read my child's book, this is my SKD CPNS material ," said the account @tuanbenjol

" shic shack shocked seeing elementary school children's textbooks now... imagine 2nd grade students, the lessons are like high school students ," said the account @ariyantihari4

However, there are also those who argue that with the right approach, children can understand the material well.

" Trust me, children can do it at school, they can memorize it easily ," added the account @dhi diery, which gave hope that this curriculum would still have advantages even though it faced challenges.

Meanwhile, comments from teachers were no less interesting. A teacher revealed that there is no standard for PKN handbooks, so each publisher prints books according to their own versions. This has the potential to cause confusion for both teachers and students.

" There is no standard PKN handbook that has been set...so each publisher prints books according to their own version. The publishers don't know the situation in the classroom. We as teachers are also confused as to why the lessons are already advanced, " said the account @Tatu Afiyah.
