Businessman and Indonesian Unity Party chairman Hary Tanoesoedibjo was questioned by National Police Cyber Crime, Monday, in the squads investigation temporary office in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.
Harywas called as a witness related to an alleged threat case.
The case revolves around three threatening text messages received by an investigator of the Attorney Generals Office (AGO) junior attorney for special crimes Yulianto on Jan 5, 7 and 9. The texts were allegedly sent by Hary Tanoesoedibjo.
Yulianto was into PT Mobile-8 tax restitution case when the texts arrived and Hary was a commissionaire in the company.
Yulianto also claimed he received Whatsapp messages with threatening tone as well.
He then reported Hary to the police with a violation of Article 29 Law No. 11 of 2008 on Electronic Information and Transactions.
Harys lawyer, Hotman Paris Hutapea, confirmed that his client had indeed sent the message. However, Hotman denied that the messages contained threats or any political speech that was meant to intimidate Yuianto.
In response of Yulianto's report, Hary decided to report Yulianto and Attorney General Muhammad Prasetyo back to the police and filed a lawsuit for false accusation in February 2016.
He reported both with Articles 310 and 311 of the Criminal Code on Defamation, Defamation and False Information as well as Article 27 (3) on Electronic Transaction Information.
Accompanied by several men, Hary refused to give any piece of information upon his arrival at the office.
Previously, National Police spokesman Sr. Commr. Martinus Sitompul confirmed the summon was related to the threat case.
"Indeed, the plan is to call him (Hary) tomorrow for a questioning," said Martinus to Detik on Sunday.
After being questioned for around three hours, Hary was finally ready to talk to reporters.
Hary claimed that his messages to Yulianto had no ill intention at all.
He even read the message he sent on Jan. 5.
I entered politics to end the transactional law enforcement and the abuse of power. Note my words: I will be Indonesias leader and then Indonesia will shine, Hary said.
That was not a threat. I want to end the transactional law enforcement is a plural form, I wasnt talking about a particular person.
