Brilio.net - Rice is the staple food of most Indonesians. This is what makes cooking rice an everyday activity. To be practical, you can cook rice by relying on a rice cooker.

How to cook rice using a rice cooker is quite practical . Just put the rice that has been washed clean into the rice cooker pan, add water in the amount according to taste. Then close the lid and press the "cook" button on the rice cooker. Once cooked, open the rice cooker. It looks like the rice is perfectly cooked and ready to eat.

Even though it looks easy, sometimes the rice cooked in a rice cooker actually gives off an unpleasant odor. After investigating, this could be caused by the rice cooker pan being used being dirty.

Not only that, some people also find that their rice is watery. Rice also doesn't last long, so it gets stale quickly. Of course, rice that has gone stale can no longer be eaten, whether you like it or not, you can just throw it away.

So, so that the rice doesn't get watery and smelly quickly, you can actually add various additional ingredients to the rice cooker pan when cooking the rice. The ingredients often used are cooking oil, lime and vinegar. The addition of these ingredients is thought to make the rice fluffier and last longer.

But don't just use additional ingredients, it turns out there are other methods that can be used to cook rice. The method was demonstrated by Instagram user @rumahedukasiakila. In his video upload, this netizen did not put any ingredients at all when cooking rice. Even so, the rice produced does not smell and lasts a long time.

As reported by BrilioFood from the Instagram account @rumahedukasiakila on Thursday (4/4) , because before the rice cooker was closed, this netizen attached a tool, namely a cloth or kitchen napkin, to the lid of the rice cooker. Make sure you use a cloth or kitchen napkin that is clean. Tie each end of the kitchen cloth so that it fits perfectly covering the entire lid of the rice cooker. If so, just close the rice cooker and cook the rice as usual.

According to the video owner, this method is effective for producing odorless and watery rice. The reason is, the kitchen cloth that is installed will accommodate the hot steam which turns into water in the rice cooker.

Because it is not watery, the resulting rice will last longer.

How to warm frozen rice from the freezer before eating.

Warming frozen rice from the freezer before eating can be done in several easy ways. Following are the steps.

1. Transfer the rice into a container.

Take the frozen rice from the freezer and transfer it to a suitable container. Make sure the container is microwave-safe if you are going to use the microwave.

2. Microwave.

If you want to warm up rice quickly, place the rice container in the microwave. Set the microwave on medium setting (around 50-70% power) and heat for a few minutes. Make sure to check the rice periodically and stir so that it heats evenly and no parts are too hot.

3. Pot or frying pan.

If you don't have a microwave or prefer the traditional method, you can use a pot or pan. Place the frozen rice in a pot or pan with a little extra water to prevent it from getting too dry. Heat over medium heat, stirring regularly to ensure the rice doesn't burn too much on the bottom.

4. Ovens.

If you have more time and want to produce crispier rice, you can use the oven. Preheat the oven to around 175-200 degrees Celsius (350-400 degrees Fahrenheit). Place the rice in an oven-safe container, cover with aluminum foil to prevent the rice from drying out, and heat for about 20-30 minutes or until the rice is completely warm.

5. The importance of ensuring ripeness.

Make sure to ensure that the rice is completely warm before you eat it. You can use a spoon or fork to check the center of the rice, make sure that the heat is even and there are no parts that are still cold.

Make sure to warm the rice thoroughly and avoid reheating it repeatedly to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria. Always make sure to store rice safely after you finish eating.
