However, mustard greens can also be stored at room temperature in the right way, and can last up to 5-6 days. This is not much different from storing in the refrigerator. How to do it?

A YouTube user Cari Jalan once shared a trick for storing mustard greens without a refrigerator. In order to keep them fresh for days, he applied a simple trick. With this trick, the stored mustard greens can stay fresh and green and not rot.

As reported by BrilioFood on Thursday (6/11), the trick is to soak the mustard greens. But not in the usual water, but in sugar water. However, the amount of sugar must also be right.

To be more precise, first prepare a container filled with half a liter of water. Because the stem of the mustard greens tends to be wide, you can use a basin or a wide container. Then add half a tablespoon of granulated sugar. And stir until evenly mixed.

Then, put the mustard greens into the container filled with water. Make sure the bottom of the stem is submerged. Then, place the basin in a safe place and away from direct sunlight so that the leaves do not turn yellow. That way, the mustard greens will stay fresh and green for up to 6 days.

The function of adding sugar will help attract moisture to the remaining roots under the mustard stem. This is what makes mustard greens not rot easily even if stored at room temperature. The moisture in mustard greens will be more stable if soaked in sugar water.

But for maximum results, it is better to change the water regularly. Every 1-2 days, discard the soaking water and replace it with new water. That way, no matter how much mustard greens you have, they will stay fresh even when stored at room temperature.
