Brilio.net - Dry rice is a problem that many people often experience. One of the main causes of rice becoming dry is a lack of water when cooking. If the amount of water used is not enough or the cooking process is not correct, the rice can become hard and dry. Apart from that, cooking rice over too high heat or for too long can also reduce the water content in the rice, making it dry.

But not only that, choosing the type of rice can also affect the level of dryness of the rice. Rice that is not suitable for making rice can produce a drier texture. Apart from that, how you store rice can also affect its moisture. If kept in the rice cooker for too long, the rice can lose its moisture and become dry.

Rice that is dry is often considered unfit for consumption. As a result, dry rice is just wasted . In fact, dry rice can be eaten if it is processed again, you know. Usually some people will re-cook the rice by adding a little water. However, if you want the results to be fluffier, there are other ingredients that must be added besides water.

This additional ingredient was once used by a woman named Ummu. Through the Instagram account @ummubalqishaura, Ummu admitted that she didn't just add water to the rice which was already dry and hard. However, there is another kitchen ingredient that is considered to make rice even tastier and fluffier.

The trick for dealing with dry rice so that it is fluffier again uses 1 kitchen ingredient.

Reported by BrilioFood from the Instagram account @ummubalqishaura on Sunday (24/3), the kitchen ingredient in question is ice cubes. According to Umu, adding ice cubes will make the rice fluffier. Apart from that, the texture of the rice is also not lumpy.

To do this, simply transfer the hard rice to a pan. Then add a little water. After that, stir and cook over low heat. For maximum results, it's best to cook rice in a closed pan.

So, if the rice has started to expand, stir it and put a few ice cubes on top of the rice. Then cover the pan again and cook again until the ice cubes disappear or melt completely. If the ice cubes have melted, open the pan and stir again. Don't forget to turn off the fire. This fluffy rice is ready to eat.

Tips so that rice doesn't go stale quickly and lasts a long time.

Rice spoils quickly because it is an ideal environment for the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi and mold. To prevent this, here are tips so that the rice doesn't go stale quickly and lasts longer.

1. Store in an airtight container.

Once the rice is cooked, make sure to store it in an airtight container or in the refrigerator to prevent air from entering and speeding up spoilage.

2. Don't leave the rice at room temperature for too long.

Cooked rice should not be left at room temperature for too long. Immediately store leftover rice in the refrigerator if you are not going to consume it straight away.

3. Use a clean container.

Make sure the storage container and equipment used to prepare rice are clean to avoid bacterial contamination.

4. Avoid storing rice at hot temperatures.

Hot temperatures can accelerate the growth of bacteria on rice. Store rice at a cool temperature.

5. Add a little oil.

Adding a little oil to the rice while cooking can help prevent the rice from sticking and helps maintain moisture.

6. Use good quality rice.

Use good quality rice that suits the type of rice you want to cook.

7. Don't let the rice get too damp.

Make sure the rice is dry enough before storing, as moisture can accelerate mold growth.

8. Keep it in small portions.

If possible, store rice in small portions so it's easier to take it without having to open the main storage container which can speed up spoilage.

9. Reheat properly.

When reheating rice, be sure to make sure the rice is really hot inside, as heat can kill any bacteria that may be growing.
