Brilio.net/en - It was a short-lived escape for male Chimp Chacha, who had a futile attempt at escaping from Yagiyama Zoological Park in Sendai, a city in Northern Japan. Sendai is the city that will host seven finance ministers from the Group of Seven industrialized nations in May, with no Chimp in attendance.
From the TV footage, its visible that the clearly agitated Chimp was perched atop a telephone pole and screaming at workers below. Even after the jungle giant was hit with a sedative, it struggled to avoid returning to the zoo by dangling from a power line in his last minutes of freedom before he fell head first onto the blanket that a dozen zoo workers had stretched out below to cushion his fall. But it was not immediately clear whether or not the Chimp survived the fall. Zoo officials later told Agence French-Presse that the animal was unhurt but still recovering from the sedative.
Furthermore, its still unclear as to how the chimp escaped and the Japanese zoo is still investigating the case.
Its a sad sight to see such a majestic animal struggling between the confines of man made power lines, and we can only hope that he is happy at his home in the zoo.
