Brilio.net - Using BPJS Kesehatan for the labor process is indeed very helpful for many mothers in Indonesia, especially in terms of financing. The costs covered include important medical procedures such as normal labor or cesarean section as long as they are in accordance with medical indications.
This financing system is based on referrals and service classes, so there are certain standards set by the government according to the class chosen. This means that services and facilities cannot be equated with general patients who pay privately or use premium insurance.
However, there are still many pregnant women who do not fully understand the limitations and mechanisms of BPJS services during childbirth. This is what seems to be experienced by a woman who shared her story via her TikTok account after going through an experience she called the worst.
Reported from the TikTok account @revidess, she shared the story of undergoing a sudden cesarean section due to the critical condition of the fetus after two days of contractions. The operation was performed by cito at 4 am, when she was already in great pain.
" My worst experience in the hospital: giving birth, making me mentally drop after the C-section ," she wrote, quoted by brilio.net from TikTok @revidess, Saturday (5/4).

Emergency Delivery and Limited FacilitiesWhile enduring severe pain, he admitted that he was asked to buy his own surgical equipment outside the hospital. This is because the items are not included in the BPJS coverage.
" The nurse said: 'Ma'am, you'll have to find a place outside for the surgery, it's not covered by BPJS' ," he said.
Although the operation went smoothly and her baby was born healthy and cried immediately, she was disappointed because she did not receive Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD). She also complained because the baby's basic needs were not prepared by the hospital.
" Ma'am, this is the baby. This baby doesn't have a diaper. It's not covered by BPJS ," said the nurse according to her confession.
The cramped recovery room and minimal facilities also worsened the woman's mood. She even heard the nurse asking her husband to buy warm water from outside because the hospital did not provide it.
" Sir, my wife is shivering. Please find some warm tea/warm water, sir. Buy it outside, we don't provide it ," he said.

She also expressed disappointment because her baby was not swaddled or bathed after birth. The nurse only wrapped the baby in a random cloth, while her mother's request to clean her body after giving birth was also rejected.
" The status is joint care, ma'am. The patient takes care of it himself, " he said, imitating the nurse's answer.
It didn't stop there, he didn't even get a birth record book. The hospital suggested recording the data on a personal cellphone, and told him to buy the KIA book online.
" Can I buy from Shopee now? When will it arrive, I need it now ," said the woman.
" Nothing, ma'am ," the nurse answered in a grumpy tone.

The room facilities were also complained about. There was no ventilation, the AC was broken, there was no fan, and outside the room there were piles of stuff due to the renovation process. Opening the door felt like inviting mosquitoes in, while closing the door made the room feel stuffy.
He was only in the hospital for less than 36 hours. However, that short time left a heavy impression on him.
" It felt like getting out of prison ," he wrote.
He admitted that he cried many times during the treatment. During the 36 hours in the hospital, his mental state really dropped.

The outpouring apparently caused various reactions from netizens, especially mothers who had also given birth with BPJS. Most of them considered the woman to have done little preparation before giving birth.
" 8 months pregnant, are you prepared with a baby book, diapers, plastic sheets, cloth, etc.? Do you want to be treated like a paid CS that costs around 30 million? " commented the account @intelhery.
" If you have joint care, that's how it is. The baby's needs are indeed brought by the parents themselves ," said @kartikaniken397.
Other comments also questioned his expectations of BPJS services which do have limitations. Some even quipped that his expectations were like being served like a VVIP patient.
" What are your expectations? Being served like a VVIP? " wrote the account @wulandari_wulan_dari.
" Where are the diapers? How come there aren't any free KIA books at the health center? Maybe because the health workers are rude, it makes it even more painful ," wrote @efrila_aryani.
" They said it was the mother who wasn't ready. It's true that if you want to get pregnant again, you should prepare thoroughly ," said @tientwins.
