Brilio.net - Thermos is a beverage container that is specially designed to keep the temperature of the drink stable. Usually, a thermos can maintain the temperature of hot water for several hours. According to information from thespruce.com, a thermos can maintain hot temperatures for up to 10-12 hours. However, over time and use, the thermos' ability to maintain temperature can decrease. Hot water stored in a thermos can cool down faster, even in less than 5 hours, which of course can be a problem for its users.
This decrease in thermos function can be caused by various factors, depending on the material and type of thermos. Large plastic thermoses, for example, tend to experience a decrease in their ability to retain heat because the glass tube inside begins to wear out with age. On the other hand, stainless steel thermoses may have different causes for similar problems. Each material has its own characteristics and weaknesses that affect the performance of the thermos in maintaining the temperature of the drink.
One of the YouTube users from the IDE KREATIF CHANNEL channel once discussed the cause of a stainless steel thermos getting cold quickly in a video. In his explanation, he mentioned that there are two main factors that can cause this problem. First, the habit of placing the thermos on a cold surface such as a ceramic floor or sink can affect the thermos' ability to maintain hot temperatures. This habit can accelerate the decrease in the temperature of the water in the thermos, so it is important to pay attention to where the thermos is stored so that it continues to function optimally.
"If possible, place it on a wooden table or provide a coaster, do not directly touch it with objects such as ceramics," explained YouTube IDE KREATIF CHANNEL, quoted by brilio.net on Monday (17/2).
The second cause, thermoses are often used for coffee or tea containers. Actually, to extend its life, thermoses should only be used for hot water. The reason is, coffee or tea can leave crust stains, especially in the area of the thermos lid. Well, the crust that sticks to the thermos lid makes the hot temperature inside seep out quickly. As a result, hot water will cool quickly.
To overcome this, YouTube user IDE KREATIF CHANNEL tells how to fix it. First, wash the thermos using hot water. The method is, simply pour hot water into the thermos, then shake the thermos. After that, throw away the water.

Next, prepare a basin filled with water. Then open the lid of the thermos. Dismantle the lid of the thermos by pressing the white circle in the middle.

After pressing, turn the cover over. Then push the black circle button located behind the white button. When pressed, the white circle (button) will immediately come off by itself.
"If you like making tea, making coffee, in this part there is usually a lot of crust," said YouTube IDE KREATIF CHANNEL.

To clean the crust, simply put each part of the thermos lid into a basin of water. While soaking, also open the seal or rubber that surrounds the thermos lid.
Then rub each component of the thermos lid that has been disassembled. If there is stubborn crust, rub the part using wire wool. Make sure all these parts are clean and free of crust.

Once done, reinstall all the components. Starting from the white button, arrange each component as before. Then reinstall it on the thermos lid. After that, also install the seal or rubber that was removed earlier.
Finally, put the lid of the thermos on the bottle. That way, the thermos can be reused. But remember, it is better to use the thermos only for hot water so that no crust will form.
"This thermos lasts up to 1 day, 2 days, even 3 days. It is no less than a new thermos," he explained further.
