Brilio.net - Honorary teachers have a big role in the world of education, shaping the character and future of the next generation. Unfortunately, appreciation for their services is still far from being adequate, especially in terms of financial well-being.
One of the stories that recently went viral on social media has once again highlighted how small the salary received by an honorary teacher in Indonesia is. In a TikTok post, a teacher with the account @r.rintik25 shared her experience regarding the salary she receives.
Her upload immediately caught the attention of netizens who empathized with the conditions of honorary teachers. Many were surprised by the amount of wages she received, especially with the payment system that was not done every month.
"My first honorary salary," he wrote in a photo uploaded to TikTok, quoted by brilio.net on Friday (7/3).
The upload shows a pay slip showing the number of teaching hours he has worked. The slip states that he taught for 29 hours in a period of three months. However, what is more surprising is the nominal hourly salary which is only Rp9 thousand.

"Guys, I am a homeroom teacher every day from Monday to Friday from 7:30-11:00 full time. I get paid once every 3 months and there are still those who say only, only, guys. Thank you to everyone who has supported and also given a lot of good input, all good. Thank you," he explained in the comments column.
Some netizens who saw the post tried to calculate the total income of the teacher for three months. They found that the amount was indeed very small compared to the workload that had to be carried out.
In fact, the owner of the account @r.rintik25 when he was a teacher was only counted as working for a week. So it was only counted as 29 hours, even though he always went to work every day during teaching hours.
"It's like this, guys, the education staff or honorary educators work for 1 full month. But only 1 week is counted, which is 29 working hours. 9 thousand x 29 = 261 thousand/month. Times 3 months of work, so you receive 783 thousand, guys," explained a netizen with the name @pempek.asam.lambung.
The salary of Rp783 thousand was obtained for 3 months. Then, added with Rp100 thousand as a salary as a homeroom teacher for 3 months.

Many netizens felt sad seeing the nominal salary received by the teacher. They highlighted how educators have to struggle in difficult conditions to get their rights.
Not a few regret the salary system applied to honorary teachers in Indonesia. The reason is, teachers are the spearhead of education who should receive more appreciation for their dedication in educating the nation's children.
"Why are you still hanging around there? You can look for another job, who knows, there might be a better one... God willing," said @nur_azis91.
"How come it took 3 months to get paid, sis? Thank God, I got paid in 1 month but the Rp was taken, but stay enthusiastic, sis," said @jarotajaa_.
"I am a PAUD teacher majoring in PGPAUD, but my salary is very small, no more than 500 thousand, even though we provide education at an expensive price in this country," said @bilaawww.01.
"The pain is not worth the cost of education and the cost of living while studying," said @salsabilaa.g_.
