Brilio.net - Recently circulating on social media was an unusual natural sighting . This can be seen in a video uploaded by the Instagram account @magelang_raya. There was a cloud with a hole in the middle of the white thunderstorm.

In the video, the entire sky is covered in clouds. However, there is a unique appearance, similar to a giant oval-shaped hole. Meanwhile, in the middle, a cloud is formed, similar to a feather duster.

It is known that this phenomenon occurred in Jember Regency, East Java Province on Tuesday afternoon, June 4 2024. Then the public immediately became excited and asked what caused this. In the video, someone can even be heard saying takbir.

"Allahuakbar, subhanallah. What is this, like a swimming pool?" he said.

Until the end, the video maker seemed unable to come to a conclusion. There were several people who were also at the location questioning this. Likewise, netizens who saw the post immediately flooded the video with comments.

Although many took it seriously, there were also those who commented jokingly. They tried to think clearly that this was not a sign of anything but an ordinary natural phenomenon.

"Wow, these are the signs, Min, the signs that Tapera is about to appear," wrote the account @codhot.

"It's all God's will, don't lead to any opinions, Jan. Ojo snicker, I'm annoyed hiih," said the account @riska_slw.

"It's important that you share Min's family WA group (What's important is don't share Min's family WA group)," commented @ginanjarsaputra.

Responding to confusion and questions from the public, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) finally spoke. According to Hukama Nur Akmal, BMKG Banyuwangi Forecaster, Jember Meteorology Post, said that this is indeed a quite unique natural phenomenon.

In the explanation, the clouds in the video are often called vacuum clouds. Indeed, the shape has a circular gap. People are more familiar with falling hole clouds and/or hole clouds.

"This gap-like shape in the clouds is most often found in the altocumulus cloud layer, followed by cirrocumulus and then stratocumulus," wrote Hukama on Tuesday (4/6), quoted by brilio.net from merdeka.com, Wednesday (5/6).

In general, this shape can occur because the alto cumulus layer or intermediate clouds are formed. This is also influenced by airplanes passing through thin layers of cumuliform clouds and triggering glaciation.

Well, the glaciation makes cloud particles from previously water droplets into ice particles. After that, according to Hukama, something like a domino effect appeared which created gaps in the clouds.

Next, the ice particles fall from a height and sometimes bend due to different wind speeds in each place. That's what makes these clouds look like they have holes.

"Cavum clouds can be found among three types of clouds, namely cirrocumulus, altocumulus and stratocumulus," said Hukama.
