For many film enthusiasts, the Ridley Scott's 1982 filmBlade Runner was a remarkable landmark. May consider it one of the best films of all time and it's no wonder that a lot of people were grumbling when they announced a sequel is planned without Scott at the helm.
However as time passed, we eventually found out that the movie will be entrusted to meteoric director Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Enemy, Incendies)with the help of longtime Sam Mendes and Coen Brothers collaborator Roger Deakins (Skyfall, Sicario, No Country for Old Men), who will be lensing the sequel.
Now, we can all jump with glee knowing that another well-established actor -one with a keen eye for quality- will be joining the sci-fi epic. Ryan Gosling has confirmed in a recent interview that he will make the leap into theBlade Runnersequel.
The confirmation may not have surprised many because there were rumors tha Gosling was in talks to star in the film. But we can all put that to rest.
Blade Runnerwas based on the Philip K. Dick novelDo Androids Dream of Electric Sheep and followed the story of Rick Deckard who was thrusted into a world of conflict between man and machine.
The sequel toBlade Runner does not yet have a release timeline but it is expected to hit anywhere between 2017 to 2018.
