Brilio.net/en - Lake Toba in North Sumatra is the biggest lake in Indonesia. Its formed out of the worlds biggest caldera, created after the biggest volcanic eruption scientists have identified, and unsurprisingly its an area of stunning natural beauty.
Every year the Samosir Lake Toba Ultra marathon charts its courses around the volcanic lake and Samosir island, which sits in the middle. This year it will be held on September 17. The running event is part of the Toba International Detour 2016 series, and become an interesting addition to the cycling race Greatest Caldera Ride, Toba in Harmony, Toba Gran Fondo 2016 and many more.

Runners will also be taken to the Samosir Island, known for its natural beauty and historical sites. You have the chance to enjoy some of the areas ancient heritage, including old stone tombs and traditional Batak ritual dances and musical performances. Its much more than just a race!
There are usually around 1,500 participants, including over 100 international athletes and running enthusiasts from all over Indonesia!

You must be at least 16 years old to take part. Once registered, you have to be in the city of Medan at least one day before the race.
