Brilio.net/en - Three dangerous prisoners from the maximum security prison in Orange County, California have escaped is a sentence you dont want to hear if you are living in Southern California. Authorities are describing the trio as a dangerous group, with murder, torture and attempted torture charges amongst them. Hossein Nayeri was charged for kidnapping, torture, aggravated mayhem and burglary after he attacked a man in 2012, poured bleach on him, set the victim on fire and then proceeded to sever his penis, leaving him for dead in the desert with a woman who was unharmed. The man survived. Jonathan Tieu, who is a documented member of a Vietnamese gang, is charged with murder and attempted murder in a gang related incident. Bac Tien Duong also faces murder charges and ahs Vietnamese gang affiliations.
The award for any information leading to the fugitives capture has been raised in the last week from $50,000 USD to $200,000, as it is believed the criminals will commit more crimes such as carjacking and robberies in order to get money.
According to Orange County Sheriff Lt. Jeff Hallock, what happened was a very sophisticated escape. The tree men cut through a quarter-inch metal plate, crawled through unsecured plumbing tunnels on the roof and cut through steel rebar. To top it of, the men used braided sheets to rappel down four to five stories, about 15meters. The sheriff believes that the men escaped after the 5am headcount, and werent noticed missing until significantly after the headcount conducted at 20:00. Furthermore, there was a fight around that the time of the second head count, which authorities are suspecting was staged. Deputies are assuming that the men had a 15-hour head start before officials noticed they were missing.
It is suspected that the fugitives had assistance. Whether it was someone who helped them get into jail or one of the 60 other inmates in the maximum security prison, the men most likely had aid in escaping.
Officials are especially worried about Nayeri. Deputy District Attorney Heather Brown told the The Orange County Register when she heard the news of his escape she thought: Oh, my God. They let Hannibal Lecter out. She claims that the 37-year old is diabolical, sophisticated, violent and cunning, and she believes that he is most likely the mastermind behind the escape plan.
On Sunday, the family of 20-year old Tieu, who has been held on a $1 million bond since October 2013, pleaded on television for him to surrender. I miss youI want my son back, she said through tears.
Unfortunately for the prison, this wasnt a first time escape. Since its opening in 1968, two other escapes took place, but both over decades ago.
