Brilio.net/en - Millions of Muslims dream of going to Mecca for an Umrah and Go-jek drivers are no exception. It takes time and money to make the trip, but its a dream that people can make come true!
The minor hajj, or Umrah/Umroh, is a pilgrimage to Mecca that can be undertaken at any time of the year. The Hajj, however, can only happen in a specific five-day window in the final month of the Islamic calendar. It is the obligation of every Muslim, provided they are physically and otherwise able, to complete the Hajj at least once. Not everyone can time it for those five days, so an Umrah is the next best thing.
While the famous green Go-jek jacket is everywhere in Indonesia, its not something youd generally expect to see around the Kabbah!
A Go-jek driver called Asep decided went to Mecca in uniform so that his jacket is blessed for when he goes back to work.
"I wore the jacket when performing umrah so that the jacket will also be granted with a lot graces when I'm back on the street," the 38-year-old said through Go-jek social media.
Go-jek is an Indonesian smartphone app that lets you place an order for food, shopping, an instant courier, massages, a taxi (car and bike) and much more from a network of thousands of riders, who weave through the traffic so you dont have to.
And it seems Asep is not along, A netizen who goes by the name of Belgium and Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard, posted a photo showing a Go-jek jacket among the thousands of white-clad Umrah pilgrims in Mecca.
"Who says a Go-jek driver can't perform Umrah. Here's the proof," Eden said.
Who said Go-jek isnt taking over the world?!
