Brilio.net - Ceramic is a popular choice for bathrooms because of its clean, elegant, and waterproof appearance. However, behind its beauty, bathroom ceramics often face problems if not properly maintained. One of the most common problems is yellowing and crusting ceramics, especially in areas that are often exposed to water or soap.

This yellowing and crusting process is usually caused by a buildup of soap residue, minerals from water, and dirt that has been left for too long. High humidity in the bathroom also accelerates the formation of crust and yellow stains, especially in ceramic crevices or around drains. If not cleaned immediately, these stains will be increasingly difficult to remove and make the bathroom look dull and unkempt.

In addition to reducing aesthetics, crust and yellow stains on ceramics can also be a place for bacteria and fungi to grow, which have a bad impact on health. Therefore, crust must be cleaned thoroughly without leaving any residue. Fortunately, there are several simple ingredients that can be used to clean crust on bathroom ceramics.

Next, apply using a foam brush. Then rub it all over the crusty parts of the ceramic. Do this process until all the crust stains disappear by themselves. If the ceramic surface becomes dry, you can rinse it first with water. Then scrub again with a brush and cleaning fluid.

"Honestly, this is really effortless. I just need to rub it without any extra effort," explained Instagram user @imassumiati31.

If the crust stain has faded, rinse immediately with running water until clean. Shortly after rinsing, the bathroom ceramics immediately became shiny and clean. A bathroom that is clean like this will make it more comfortable to use for bathing or cleaning yourself.

Basically, a mixture of baking soda, dish soap, and citric acid is effective in removing stubborn crust on bathroom ceramics because the combination of cleaning properties of each of these ingredients complement each other. Baking soda is a mild abrasive, so it can remove stains and crust without damaging the ceramic surface. In addition, its alkaline properties help dissolve grease and dirt that sticks.

Dish soap acts as a cleaning agent that dissolves oil and soap residue that often causes limescale in the bathroom. The surfactant content in this soap breaks down the bond between limescale and the ceramic surface, making it easier to clean.

Meanwhile, citric acid, rich in citric acid, works by dissolving minerals such as calcium and magnesium that form hard water deposits. When citric acid is mixed with baking soda, the resulting chemical reaction produces gas bubbles that help loosen the deposits from the ceramic. With the three ingredients working together, stubborn deposits can be removed thoroughly, leaving the ceramic clean without any stains.
