TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto has just issued a Letter of Command Number Sprin/674/II/2025. In the letter, it was announced that Major Teddy Indra Wijaya , who currently serves as Cabinet Secretary (Seskab), has officially been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel (Letkol).

" Decree of the TNI Commander Number Kep/238/II/2025 dated February 25, 2025 concerning the Determination of the Regular Acceleration Rank Promotion (KPRP) from Major to Lieutenant Colonel on behalf of Major Inf Teddy Indra Wijaya, Secretary of the Cabinet of the Republic of Indonesia ," the letter wrote.

The letter also explained that this promotion was in accordance with Army Chief of Staff Regulation Number 21 of 2019 concerning the Ranks of Indonesian Army Soldiers, as well as Army Chief of Staff Decree Number Kep/462/VIII/2021 dated August 4, 2021 concerning Technical Instructions for Career Development of Indonesian Army Soldiers.

The Head of the Army Information Service (Kadispenad), Brigadier General Inf Wahyu Yudhayana, also confirmed that the information regarding Teddy's promotion was true. "I convey to my media colleagues that the information is indeed true," said Wahyu when confirmed by merdeka.com.

He emphasized that this promotion was in accordance with the provisions in force in the TNI and the legislation. "And it is in accordance with the provisions in force in the TNI and the basis of legislation (Presidential Decree), administratively everything has been fulfilled," he added.

On the other hand, the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), criticized the placement of active TNI in civilian positions. SBY emphasized that there should be no active TNI involved in practical politics, because it is contrary to the established principles of reform.

"In the past, when I was still in the military, in the spirit of reform, it was taboo for active TNI to enter the world of politics. That was one of the doctrines that we issued in the past," said SBY when meeting with 38 DPD Chairmen of the Democratic Party on Sunday (23/2).

SBY said that during his active military career, one of the values he upheld was the TNI's neutrality in politics. He emphasized that if an active general wanted to be involved in government, he had to resign from his position.

"We will implement it, it's true that I was inspired, if you are still an active general, don't be involved in politics, if you want to be involved in politics, retire," SBY asserted. This is the principle he holds to maintain the integrity and neutrality of the TNI.
