Brilio.net - Honorary teachers play an important role in education, shaping the character and future of the younger generation. Unfortunately, in Indonesia, their stories are often colored by major challenges, especially regarding salaries that are far from sufficient. Known as 'unsung heroes', many honorary teachers have to struggle hard to meet their living needs, even though they have served for years.

One of the touching stories comes from an honorary teacher named Mr. Alvi. This middle-aged man went viral after his life story was uploaded by the TikTok account @duniapunyacerita_.

For 38 years, Mr. Alvi has devoted himself as an honorary teacher in more than 30 schools in Sukabumi. However, the very minimal salary forced him to find additional income by scavenging used goods after teaching.

Mr. Alvi currently teaches social studies at MTs Hidayatul Islamiyah with a pay of only Rp10 thousand per hour. His limited income makes it difficult for him to meet the needs of his family, especially since he has to take public transportation up to three times to get to school.

However, Mr. Alvi's passion for educating his students never dies. In order to increase his income, he collects plastic bottles, used nails, and other items that can be sold.

The results of scavenging, although not much, are enough to help Mr. Alvi and his family survive. In addition, he also received certification assistance from the Ministry of Religion amounting to Rp 2.8 million.

However, her sacrifices did not stop there. Her dedication as a teacher and her persistence in supporting her family touched many people and they began to help.

Recently, the fruits of his hard work and patience began to be felt. Mr. Alvi was invited by AKBP Tri Suhartanto to the Cimahi Police. This meeting was recorded in a TikTok upload by @infopadalarang.

" Do you want to go to Mecca? " Tri Suhartanto asked Mr. Alvi.

"Yes," Alvi answered with a hopeful face.

" If that's the case, I'll send you off, sir ," Tri replied firmly.

This news filled the atmosphere in the Kapolres room with emotion. Pak Alvi, with tears of joy, hugged AKBP Tri Suhartanto tightly, feeling a mixture of sadness and happiness.

Finally, he was able to carry out the fifth pillar of Islam, namely performing the Umrah pilgrimage. The plan is for Mr. Alvi to depart in early November 2024.
