Brilio.net - Usually students who migrate often face problems with the cost of living. This also happened in Yogyakarta. Even though this city is known for its relatively low cost of living, many students still have difficulty meeting their daily needs. For example, housing costs, food, transportation, and matters relating to lectures.

That's what a student from Papua named Marinus felt. This student who studied in Yogyakarta experienced difficult times while abroad. The story was uploaded to social media and attracted public attention.

Brilio.net reported from TikTok @marinusyaung, Tuesday (18/6), Marinus said that from 1997 to 1999 he lived in mediocre conditions. It's difficult to get a place to live, because if you want to live in a room, you have to spend more money.

Various efforts were made to keep him alive. Luckily, there was a boarding house owner who gave a helping hand. According to Marinus' confession, he was allowed to stay in the boarding house without paying. Not a month or two, but up to two years.

"My boarding house mother was in Yogyakarta. She allowed me to live in her boarding house without paying from 1997 -1999, because I had financial difficulties during college during those years." said Marinus.

Marinus was really lucky to get a helping hand from his landlady. Finally he was able to finish his studies even though he had to work hard. It is known that the boarding house is in Maguwoharjo, Sleman. Marinus said that the boarding house mother was truly sincere because she helped without distinguishing between race, ethnicity, religion and other identities.

"When people help us, regardless of religion, ethnicity and race, during the crisis situation of those years, it is a picture of LOVE and LOVE that is full of sincerity," he said.

Now Marinus is working. Decades after that moment, he still remembers his landlady . When he had the opportunity, Marinus immediately visited the person who had been kind to him.

In the post, Marinus said he came because he wanted to pay for his boarding house which he had been given for free. Even though he knew that this did not repay the affection he had received at all. When we met him, the landlady already looked old.
