Brilio.net/en - An archaeologist team has recently found a body in the Altai Mountain. The mummified body is believed to be 1,500-year old. But strangely the mummy was wearing modern-time sneakers, branded with the Adidas logo.
Adidas is a sport brand established in 1924 by shoemaker and repairer Adolf Adi Dassler, in Herzogenaurach village, 20 kilometers from Nuremberg, Germany. So how did a 1,500-year old mummy end up wearing a 92-year old brand of sneakers?
Last week, archaeologists in Mongolia released the first photograph of the mummy found in the cemetery in Altai Mountain, Mongolia. The picture has become viral in social media because the mummy is wearing shoes seen on the likes of rappers and skaters nowadays. Hardly the type of shoe that a nomadic tribes person would have work a millennia ago. Netizens also commented on the photo with different tones. Some are commenting about the shoes, while others said that time travel exists in this world.
The mummy is considered to be a woman, based from the outfit. The body was lifted from a 3-meter deep tomb, 2,803 above the sea level, and is now being studied by the scholars of the Khovd Museum, Mongolia.
Altai Mountain is a line of mountains spanning in the Middle East and touching the borders of Russia, China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan. It is also believed that Altai Mountain was the birthplace of the Turkish ancestors.
This person was not from an elite group. We believe it was a lady because it doesnt have arrow and bow in the tomb, explained a scholar from Khovd Museum, B. Sukhbaatar. We are now carefully peeling the body wrapper. After this, specialists will be able to tell the exact sex of it.
A number of treasures were found in the tomb and they added a unique knowledge about the life in Mongolia around the sixth century. The first Turkish stayed in a vast area in Middle Asia until Siberia in the sixth century. They were mentioned in a Chinese manuscript, which became a reference to Turkish and Sogdians along the Silk Road. They have their own alphabets, language and symbolic numbers.
Referring to the mummy, Sukhbaatar only said, This is truly a rare phenomena.
