Deddy Corbuzier officially converted to Islam on Friday (21/6). Deddy Corbuzier's conversion process took place in Yogyakarta. To be precise, at Gus Miftah's Ora Aji Islamic Boarding School. Gus Miftah guided him to recite two sentences of the shahada. DIY Police Chief, Ahmad Dofiri, was a witness to Deddy's conversion process.
"I'm so happy to be here, I'm so happy to be here. And why I'm here is because I feel, if I really had the intention, I should be humble like that, so it's better if I'm in the right place, I hope this ends. "I also often meet Gus Miftah. This is just the beginning for me. So maybe if many friends are happy with this news, it's just the beginning of my journey," said Deddy Corbuzier at a press conference.
During a press conference, Deddy explained that he was interested in converting to Islam. He also explained that he was born into a multi-religious family. So he gets used to the differences that he considers beauty. He feels sad if he converts to Islam just for the sensation or YouTube content. He also explained when he was interested in Islam. For at least two years Deddy Corbuzier has been interested in studying Islam.
"But if someone says something like that, I just agree with it, so please let them speak. If people know and are close to me, actually from my own YouTube, from my own show on TV, it's been more than a year or two. This content is about Islam. There is Gus Miftah, then we also invite other ustaz to my event, even in my own content, if we were talking about content, in my own content the people I invited to talk about religion are ustaz- ustaz," explained Deddy Corbuzier.
One of the reasons Deddy Corbuzier converted to Islam was because he met people who he considered were the right people to study Islam, one of whom was Gus Miftah. Deddy Corbuzier did not feel afraid or feel strongly about Islam when he had a dialogue with Gus Miftah. He denied being said to have changed his religion because he wanted to get married.
"If you say it's because you want to get married and so on, absolutely not. Absolutely not. I will not change my religion because of a woman," said Deddy Corbuzier.
Deddy Corbuzier accompanied by his girlfriend Sabrina Chairunnisa. After converting to Islam, Deddy Corbuzier was invited by Gus Miftah to visit several Ulama. Gus Miftah explained that he was friends with Deddy and Deddy was interested in studying Islam. Deddy often asks questions and fortunately Gus Miftah can answer rationally. So Deddy believed.
"Hopefully this will be a new beginning for him, hopefully he is steadfast in his path," concluded Gus Miftah.
