Running while enjoying the picturesque scenery of Borobudur Temple? Why not!

Central Jakarta Government for the fifth time, in cooperation with Bank Jateng and Kompas, will hold the Borobudur Marathon, titled "Reborn Harmony". Held first in 1990, this year's competition will also promote Borobudur Temple as a world cultural heritage.

"The government supports sportourism. (The marathon) is held not just as asport, but also (as a way to attract people) to enjoy the great tourist attractions. Borobudur temple is one of the seven wonders of the world," said Minister of Youth and Sports Imam Nahrawi in Senayan.

Imam added that he also expect the event could be a part in success of the 'Ayo Olahraga' ('Let's do sports') National Movement.

Unfortunately, this year's event is only limited for 10,0000 runners asthe organizer insists to focus on providing services to participants, following the soaring number of runners taking part in the contest which led to a less enjoyable event last year.

The marathon will be dividedinto threecategories 10 kilometers, 20 kilometers and 42 kilometers race and will be held at Lumbini Park Complex, Borobudur, Magelang, Central Java on November 19, 2017.

"We want to give satisfaction to the participants so they can race while sightseeing. Thus, convenience becomes something we think about," said Central Java Deputy Governor, Heru Sudjatmoko.

Borobudur Marathon is expected to have a positive impact and improvement for locals who live around the Borobudur Temple.
