The commemoration ceremony of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day has ended in the National Capital (IKN) on Saturday (17/8). One of the things that stole the attention at the Indonesian Independence Day ceremony was the Flag Raising Troop (Paskibraka) who were tasked with raising the duplicate of the heirloom flag.
Those who come from various regions in Indonesia, are selected sons and daughters who have been trained long before the Indonesian Independence Day ceremony was held. But not many people know that the Fifth President of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri was also selected to be part of Paskibraka.
Megawati, who was 17 years old at the time, also appeared as part of the Paskibraka at the Merdeka Palace. She was chosen as the tray bearer carrying the original heirloom flag sewn by her mother, Fatmawati.
Viral again on social media pages, many are also misfocused on Megawati's youth portrait. Here brilio.net summarizes from various sources on Monday (8/20), old portraits of Megawati as a member of Paskibraka.
