This year, the Geneng Street Art Project 3 (GSAP 3) is held in Geneng village, Panggungharjo, Sewon, Bantul, Yogyakarta. This event consists of two parts: indoor and outdoor exhibitions. The outdoor exhibition involves 25 artists who pour their creative ideas on the walls of houses in the Geneng Village. Carrying Gemah Ripah Lohjinawi (peaceful and prosperous land) as the theme, this event is fronted by the Ruang Kelas SD community which has started this project since a few months ago.
The indoor exhibition itself is held at the RJ Katamsi Gallery in the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Sewon, Yogyakarta, from June 23 to November 30, 2015. Carrying the similar theme, the GSAP 3 indoor exhibition involves 49 artists, consisting of 31 painters, 7 installation artists, and the rest are video artists.
In contrast to previous years, in the GSAP 3, the people of Geneng now serve as curators. At the beginning, we had a discussion with the locals for what kind of picture they want on their wall, said Johaness, a GSAP committee, when contacted by brilio.net/en few days ago.
The committee expects the making of street art in the locals house is going to lift the reputation of the Geneng Village and Panggungharjo Village as a tourism destination for street art in the future.
Brilio.net/en will show you several outdoor and indoor artworks from the Geneng Street Art Project 3. Check this out!
