Brilio.net/en - Great Indonesia Movement Party chairman Prabowo Subianto finally met former president and Democratic Party chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in Cikeas, West Java on Thursday evening.

Prabowo arrived at the SBY's private residence at 8.30 p.m. and immediately held a closed discussion for around 90 minutes.

While many believed that the meeting between those supreme leaders was a sign of the birth of a new alliance, SBY insisted that they both only had ordinary talks.

"So, the meeting between political figures is [becoming] something special. Perhaps, it becomes special since it took place after July 20, when Gerindra, Democratic, PAN and PKS parties were in the same boat for opposing the newly-passed election bill," said SBY in a press conference.

SBY who was abroad when the election bill was being weighted and measured, claimed to have received a lot of invitations to discuss the bill after its approval last Friday. Democratic Party and Gerindra have been known to oppose the Houses decision to retain the 20 percent presidential threshold.

The meeting, however, resulted in an agreement where both patrons agreed to oversee the course of government without forming a coalition yet.

"We're also in line to improve communication and cooperation, even though not in the form of coalition," said SBY.

SBY's decision was taken after judging situation in the past, in which he learned that a coalition can be unstable and fundamentally shifted.

SBY explained the cooperation includes being in politics and conducting a moral movement aimed to prevent any abuse of power.

"Power must not go unchecked. It means that we have to ensure that the use of power by the authority does not overstep the boundary or abuse the power like weve learned before, he said.
