Home Minister Tjahjo Kumolo said the public and today's young generation were never prohibited to learn the history of G30S/PKI or 30 September movement, instead they should know about it.

"It's a history, so that society and young generation are revealed about the coup in the past," said Tjahjo on Friday.

Thus, he did not see any issue if the 1984 Indonesian docudrama "Pengkhianatan G30S/PKI" (Treachery of G30S/PKI) is screened on national television screens.

"Just play it on television. I don't think it's a problem," said the minister.

Tjahjo also denied the rumor saying he banned the film screening.

"I never made that statement. I'll find out who made slander about me," he said.

"It's still under process for who the slanderer is. The person and his phone number have been found," closed Tjahjo.

"Pengkhianatan G30S/PKI" was written and directed by Arifin C. Noer, starred by Amoroso Katamsi, Umar Kayam, and Syubah Asa. Budgeted at Rp. 800 million, the film was produced over a period of two years sponsored by Suharto's New Order government.
