As quoted from Manchester Evening News, Manchester Metropolitan University has announced that they’ve opened a new program for students who work at Pizza Hut. The program that will be held for the next 5 years provides various levels of education, starting from level 1 to the degree level.
This program will combine academic and practical skills to expand the student’s skill, not just the knowledge of working in the restaurants. Later, they will be equipped with the skill of making pizza and the basic knowledge of financial management in a restaurant.
The students who want to take a bachelor degree will study at the university while the lower level education will be trained in restaurants. Kathryn Austin, the director of HR and marketing at Pizza Hut said that this apprenticeship program will be useful to prepare future employees while at the same time seek for the best potential employees to recruit.
Austin said that she wants to ensure that all students who join in this program would get the best apprenticeship in pizza and other skills which are useful not only for working in the restaurants, but also for their life. She also would encourage other restaurant businesses to provide the same apprenticeship program because it is an effective way to expand the skill of the students and gain potential employees.
