Jakarta Elected DeputyGovernor Sandiaga Uno recently said thatonly those with Rp 7 million to Rp 10 million per month salary are able to get the house with only Rp 0 down payment (DP).

The housing plan was one of the most celebrated programs of Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga's campaign earlier this year. However, the program has changed a lot since it was first announced, from being house ownership financing program with zero percent down payment, being with zero rupiah down payment, to beinga six month saving program to cover the down payment fee.

Sandiaga's latest remark made the program even more unclear for Jakartans hoping for affordable housing in the city.

We need to make sure whether they can pay. Because the category for the zero rupiah down payment[program is for [those with] around Rp 7 million to Rp 10 million monthly income, Sandiaga said yesterday. If [the income] is under [the specified amount then they] are not suitable for the program.

The program was rejected by former Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama during his leadership since it did not make sense for him at that moment.

If [he] proposed [for the government] to prepare money [for] zero percent down payment project, well it does not make sense for us. It's against the rules if we provide money for people so they can just choose where and what house to buy," he said on May 5.

Many people have beenquestioning about what will happen to those who comefrom middle to lower class group or those whose salary and income are below Rp 7 million.

Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Unos credibility, integrity, transparency and consistency are also questioned following this decision since none of them informed people aboutrequirement during their campaign and keep changing the details after being elected.
