The newly-appointed Chairman of 212 Rally Presidium Slamet Maarif has stated that they will not continue their support for businessman and media tycoon Hary Tanoesoedibjo.

Slamet, who is also the spokesperson for the Islamic Defender Front (FPI), added that the presidium will continue demanding the remaining points of their complaints to National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM).

"From the beginning of our report to Komnas HAM, [we] only defend clerics and activists. And that's what we'll continue," wrote Maarif in a short message to Detik, Wednesday.

Slamet's statement refers to the points of the complaints they made to Komnas HAM last Friday, among them are about the so-called criminalization against clerics, the recentdecree on mass organization and protection for activists.

The presidium also included Hary on the complaints, saying they would shield him from the 'unjust persecution'.

But, the presidium took no time to announce their change of heart as Slamet declared that the presidium will give no follow up to their support for Hary. "Yes, [there'll be no follow up]," he said.

He further said the presidium will only continue to defend the interest of Muslim and clerics.

Earlier this week, the presidium which was previously led by Ansufri Idrus Sambo, had been reportedly reprimanded by FPI firebrand cleric, Rizieq Shihab through his lawyer, Sugito Atmo Prawiro, for their maneuver that defended Hary Tanoe who has been named suspect of a threat case.

Sugito said that Rizieq was dissappointed with the presidium's movement, believing the group had been off the track and was 'used by some people'.

"It seems the moment was 'used' for different things. This what makes Rizieq Shihab dissapointed," said Sugito.

Sugito said he did not accuse the presidium to had been involved in a scheme with Hary. He then asserted that the National Movement to Safeguard the Indonesian Ulema Councils Fatwa (GNPF-MUI) is still in command for the presidium's movement.
