Brilio.net - Kitchen cleanliness is an important aspect that affects the comfort and safety of its users. Based on information from hgic.clemson.edu, a clean kitchen can reduce the risk of bacterial contamination and prevent the entry of pests such as mice and other animals, thus ensuring a more hygienic cooking process.
Regular use of the kitchen, especially the sink area, can result in various hygiene issues. The sink area used for washing food, kitchen utensils, and daily hand washing activities becomes susceptible to moisture, mold and mildew growth. Furthermore, a sink that is not properly maintained can experience rust that is difficult to overcome.
Cleaning rust on a sink generally requires special handling, such as using citric acid sprinkled on the rusty area and left for several hours to soften the rust before brushing it off.
However, there are more practical alternative methods as shared in Noer Mancunk's YouTube video, where rust cleaning can be done with a combination of simple ingredients available at home, including the use of certain kitchen ingredients as rust cleaners.
As reported by BrilioFood on Monday (9/12), the kitchen ingredients used are salt. As for other cleaning ingredients, he also uses dish soap and toothpaste. Well, all of these ingredients are later dissolved in warm water for maximum results.

Next, you just prepare a small bowl filled with warm water. Then add salt to taste. Then also add dish soap and toothpaste. After that, stir all the ingredients until they foam and mix well.
Once done, pour this liquid onto the rusty sink surface. Immediately after pouring, the sink can actually be scrubbed. However, you can also let it sit for 10 minutes so that the cleaning fluid can penetrate the rust. After that, immediately scrub the rust stains with a rough brush. Scrub the main part of the sink and the dish drainer too.

If it doesn't work, sprinkle the sink with salt. Basically, the abrasive properties of salt will erode stubborn rust stains on the sink's surface. Do this process until the stains are completely gone.
"You have to be patient and diligent when cleaning like this, so it's clean and shiny," said YouTuber Noer Mancunk.

When the rust stains are gone, rinse the sink with running water. Make sure the stains and soap residue are also gone. That way, the sink will look cleaner and shinier. The aroma tends to be fragrant and the sink is free of bacteria.
