Brilio.net - Kitchen equipment made of metal is at risk of corrosion, especially when often exposed to water or not used for a long time. A pan that is rarely used and only stored in the kitchen is one example of equipment that is prone to rust, both on the top and bottom surfaces.
Using rusty pans can be harmful to health. Based on information from kitchenoa.com, rust that contaminates food has the potential to bring bacteria into the body. Therefore, cleaning rust on the pan before use is very important.
Rust stains on pans are included in the category of stains that are difficult to remove. The usual washing method using soap and water is not effective enough to remove rust. A solution has been shared by a YouTube user who demonstrates a practical way to clean rust on pans , especially his serabi pan.
"This is quite easy, economical and does not drain your energy. The main ingredients used are citric acid and dishwashing soap. The ingredients can be purchased at the nearest shop/stall near you," he wrote.
Quoted by BrilioFood from YouTube/Mbah Gudmer on Friday (6/12), if the rust on the pan is very thick, according to him it can be sanded first. That way, the thick layer of rust on the surface can be slightly eroded before the pan is washed using liquid.

Then prepare a small bowl filled with water. Pour a small packet of citric acid or lemon and a little dish soap. Dissolve and stir until smooth. Then soak the rusty pan and let it sit overnight.

The next day, the pan can be brushed to remove any remaining rust. If you feel the rust is completely gone, immediately rinse the pan using clean water. The owner of the YouTube account/Mbah Gudmer also explained, after finishing, immediately dry the pan and apply vegetable oil so that rust does not easily appear again.
"Because iron will rust if it comes into contact with water. Once finished, try to dry it and then smear it with vegetable oil," he explained.
