Brilio.net - Water dispensers make it easy for users to get hot and cold water, ideal for brewing coffee, tea, or instant noodles. In addition, the dispenser functions as a drinking water container, facilitating the flow of water from the gallon. Usually, dispensers are designed with a gallon at the top, but this requires energy to lift a heavy full gallon. Technology now offers dispensers with a gallon at the bottom, using electricity to pump water up. Although practical, bottom gallon dispensers often have the problem of plastic odor from new pumps that are not properly cleaned, which can affect the aroma of the water. Overcoming this odor can be done with two simple ingredients, ensuring the water remains fresh and odor-free.

To overcome this, a YouTube netizen with the Nyalakan DuniaMu channel once shared his solution. In one of the videos uploaded, he revealed a simple trick to eliminate the plastic smell in the bottom gallon dispenser. So there are several steps that need to be done.

As reported by BrilioFood on Monday (13/1), remove the hose from the dispenser first. After that, soak the hose in hot water for 30 minutes. Hot water itself can effectively eliminate bacteria that cause unpleasant odors, including the pungent smell of plastic.

In another container, prepare clean water. Then mix it with lemon juice. Finally, add one tablespoon of salt. Stir until all ingredients are dissolved and mixed well.

Place the dispenser hose into the mixture of lemon water and salt. After that, soak it for 30 minutes. These two ingredients are also effective in removing the plastic odor that sticks firmly to the inside and outside of the dispenser hose.

"Use a dispenser with lemon juice to rinse the drain several times," says YouTube's Nyalakan DuniaMu.

Collect the lemon water and salt that comes out of the top channel of the dispenser. Then discard the water. Finally, replace the lemon water and salt mixture with regular water. This aims to rinse and remove the lemon and salt flavors that are in the hose and dispenser.

The cleaned dispenser is ready to be used to hold water containers. Well, this method should be done on newly purchased dispensers. Not without reason, the smell of plastic in new dispensers tends to be more pungent.

The importance of cleaning the dispenser before first use.

Cleaning the dispenser before using it for the first time is very important to ensure that the water consumed remains safe and free from plastic odor. The strong plastic odor usually comes from chemical residues left during the production process of dispenser components, such as hoses or pumps. If not cleaned, these residues can contaminate the water and affect its taste and aroma. The cleaning process using hot water, lemon, and salt not only removes the plastic odor but also kills bacteria or dirt that may be stuck to the dispenser parts. By cleaning the dispenser thoroughly, the water quality will remain hygienic and suitable for consumption.

Tips for caring for your dispenser to keep it durable and hygienic.

To keep the bottom gallon dispenser durable and hygienic, do regular maintenance. Clean the hose and components in the dispenser every two weeks to prevent the buildup of bacteria or dirt. Use a mixture of warm water and lemon juice to clean these parts effectively. Make sure the dispenser is always dry when not in use to avoid a musty smell. In addition, check the condition of the pump and hose regularly to ensure there is no damage or leaks that can affect the performance of the dispenser. With proper maintenance, the dispenser will last longer and continue to provide clean and fresh water.
