Brilio.net - Marshel Widianto has officially announced that he will not run as Deputy Mayor of South Tangerang in the 2024 Pilkada. Initially, he was nominated by several political parties to accompany Riza Patria as a candidate for Mayor. However, after Riza Patria decided to withdraw from the Pilkada contest, Marshel Widianto also followed suit.

Previously, he had visited various places. He was even accompanied by the vice president-elect, Gibran Rakabuming and also Raffi Ahmad. However, he did not regret and took wisdom from the process even though he failed to advance in the Pilkada.

Despite his frequent visits, Marshel admitted that he never spent much money. He admitted that during the campaign he only spent Rp500.

"Our campaign budget yesterday was Rp. 500 thousand," he said at the Tangsel Gerindra DPC office, quoted by brilio.net on Thursday (29/8).

Marshel explained that the money was only used to support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). During the campaign process, he often bought cendol, bakso and other snacks.

"That's for cendol ice, meatballs, because it supports MSMEs and my 73 contents on Instagram and others," continued Marshel.

Even so, he does not regret at all what he has done so far, especially meeting with various levels of society. Marshel said that what he has done could be an investment for the incumbent Benyamin and Pilar carried by Gerindra.

"I am ready to be Benyamin Davnie's successful team and pillar, for Tangsel to be happy," he said.

He also admitted that he was not sad at all. Because, Marshel realized that this was part of the dynamics of politics. For him, he will remain an active cadre in the world of politics because it is a learning material for the future.

"You could say no (sad), because this is what we decided because this often happens in very dynamic political dynamics, whatever happens we will always be in the ranks and I remain Gerindra," he said.

After officially withdrawing from his candidacy as a candidate for mayor and deputy mayor of South Tangerang (Tangsel), Marshel Widianto has now switched his support to the incumbent pair, Benyamin Davnie and Pilar Saga Ichsan, in the Tangsel City Pilkada.

"Today, on behalf of the Gerindra Party and Bang A. Riza Patria, as well as myself, I would like to express my full support for the Benyamin Davnie and Pilar pair," he concluded. Marshel's support is expected to strengthen the position of the incumbent pair in the increasingly tight Pilkada competition.
