Brilio.net - The map of the regional elections in South Tangerang City has changed. Prospective mayoral candidate for South Tangerang (Tangsel), Ahmad Riza Patria, withdrew from his candidacy in the 2024 South Tangerang Regional Election. This also caused his partner, Marshel Widianto to cancel his candidacy in the contestation event.
The pair was initially supported by a number of parties that are members of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition. However, at the last minute of candidate registration, both of them announced their withdrawal from the candidacy.
Regarding his decision, Marshel also spoke up. The father of one child reasoned that he resigned for the sake of Tangsel's progress.
"Resign for the progress of South Tangerang," said Marshel Widianto as quoted from Kapanlagi.com, Thursday (29/8).

He also personally stated that his hard work will not stop until today. Where he will continue to fight to win the pair Benyamin Davnie and Pilar Saga.
"Today, I represent the Gerindra Party and also Mr. Ariza Patria, I want to express my full support for the Benyamin Davnie and Mr. Pilar pair," he said.
Despite failing to run in the 2024 Pilkada, Marshel admitted that he never regretted his efforts so far to accommodate the aspirations of the community. The husband of Cesen, a former JKT48, said he would convey the aspirations of the residents to the Benyamin-Pilar pair.
"It does not mean that my trip with Mr. Ariza Patria was in vain yesterday, friends, because it was an aspiration and also a direct complaint from the people of South Tangerang, how I will be entrusted to Mr. Benyamin and also to Mr. Pilar who will become the Mayor of South Tangerang," he said.

Marshel said his experience of going on the road also reminded him of his struggles when competing in a comedian talent search. He was grateful for the experience of participating in the competition because it brought benefits for now.
"After I went downstairs, I was even more grateful because it was like a flashback to my feelings when I was struggling before becoming a comedian," said Marshel.
"Finally, I can be grateful and also get abundance after I worked in stand-up comedy with the art that I love," he continued.
The 28-year-old comedian was not discouraged after his candidacy for the 2024 South Tangerang Pilkada failed. Marshel said that he now wants to focus more on improving himself to become a better person.
"I am focusing on myself in the future. I will be better, I will be more grateful, and I will change more into a good Marshel Widianto," he said.
