Producer and Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Film Artists Association (Parfis), Erry Wibowo, recently asked Barbie Kumalasari to open a law firm office in Bali. This request finally came true in November 2024.

This request came after the intensity of the meeting between Erry Wibowo, Barbie Kumalasari, education figure I Wayan Adnyana, and director Ian Wibowo at the film campus, Bali Dwipa 1AN Movie Academy. In his written statement, Erry explained that this request was not related to the law study program at his campus.

"This is not only because our campus has a law study program, but because our movie academy is related to films that involve artists and artists. Therefore, this law firm will focus more on defending the rights of artists and artists," said Erry Wibowo.

Barbie Kumalasari welcomed the request. For her, this was like a dream come true, because she had long planned to open an office on the Island of the Gods.

"Actually, we have long planned to open a law firm in Bali with Mr. Erry and Mr. Adnyana. It was only this November that it happened after Mr. Erry introduced me to the former Deputy Governor of Bali, Mr. Jero Sudikerta," he explained.

Jero Sudikerta, who is the founder of Kerta & Partner, hopes that Barbie Kumalasari can make a real contribution in helping with the legal problems of artists and art workers.

"This is not only because I am the Treasurer of the DPP of the Indonesian Artists and Entrepreneurs Association and Mr. Erry Wibowo is the Deputy Chairperson of the DPP Parfis. This is a matter of calling because my career journey began in the world of art," he added.

Bali is known as a center for artists in Indonesia, both working and resident. Filmmaker Ian Wibowo also welcomed Barbie Kumalasari's steps. He emphasized the importance of protecting the artwork and copyrights of Indonesian artists.

"There are many examples of cases in the field of photography related to copyright. In the legal realm, they need to be assisted and protected," he said.
