Leafy palms and spiky succulents are keeping us healthy.
According to a study conducted by Harvard in 2016, women who live in homes surrounded by more vegetation and plants appear to have a lower mortality rate than those who live in areas with less.
The eight-year study saw women who were living amongst the leaves have a mortality rate that was 12% lower than those living in less green areas. Other health benefits include improved mental health, lower levels of depression and increased opportunities for social engagement.
Interpret what you will from opportunities for social engagement (a plant party anyone?), but dig a little deeper and it is clear that these humble pot plants are more than just home dcor.
Boosting creativity and acting as a natural humidifier, indoor plants offer a unique set of health and mental wellbeing benefits. Plus, they spice up even the dullest of rooms. Its a win-win.
