Brilio.net/en - You may be visiting Bali on holiday or choose to stay on the Island of Gods when you get inspired by the marvelous art sold or exhibited all around the paradise to make your own artwork. If this happens to you but you dont know where to buy the art supplies, you can find the basics at bookstores like Gramedia or local big supermarkets like Bintang in Kuta or Tiara Dewata in Denpasar. They sell canvases, sketching books, brushes, paints, color pencils, and other stationeries. But if you are looking for more advanced art tools, here are three shops around Denpasar you can check out:
1.Bali Cipta Seni

The store is an old one and doesnt even look like a store from the outside. It looks more like a warehouse of canvas and frames, which they also sell. You can buy any sizes and materials, even customized canvas, and custom-frame your painting here. The family business sells various art materials, although the shop is rather small, hot and dusty. And because it is a family business, only the owner operates the purchasing system so you must be extremely patient waiting for your turn queuing here. But it can be the best deal for your art needs because the price is lower than its competitors and is still the best place to get supplies for your painting and drawing needs. They are open on weekdays until 6 p.m. at Jl. Wahidin No. 6, Denpasar. Call them at +62 361 425 427 or +62 851 0389 9962 for more information.

The shop has 5 branches in Denpasar, Canggu, Sanur, Jimbaran and Ubud. You can already see the artistic white-pen drawings on the glass walls and door from the outside. Inside, you can find the fine quality of art tools you might need: various kinds and sizes of canvas, palette and easel, complete types, colours and brands for markers, paints, oils, drawing pens and spray paints, types of glue and other stationeries, wrapping papers, crafting needs and supply for architecture models. They take orders for custom-made frames, shadow boxes, mats, glass and acrylic glazing, mounting and laminating, frame and canvas repair, and anything you can imagine. They also hold art exhibitions and events such as art classes for both adults and kids: drawing and painting, manga comic drawing, ceramic building and painting, and craft classes. The shops open on weekdays until 5 p.m. You can check the web for more information or how-to articles here.

This shop is relatively new. Opened at the end of 2015 in the Renon area, this two-story shop is a small one but has a complete stock of art supply, stationeries and even vinyl records. On first floor you can find various types of paints, spray paints, markers, brushes, architectural model supplies, clays, wrapping papers, knitting yarns, ribbons and washi tapes, wooden mannequins, crafting supplies, even scrapbooking supplies. Going up on second floor there is a mini studio selling vintage vinyl, recycled products, tin cans and cute knick-knacks, corkboards and blackboards, and choices of papers in different materials, sizes and textures. The shop doesnt take custom-frame orders but they sell small photo frames and canvases. They also actively support art exhibitions and events like art classes on weekends or music performance. Find the shop at Graha Merdeka Unit C, Jl. Merdeka, Renon, Denpasar. For more details you can check their Instagram account here or contact them at +62 361 236 076 and tokotondo@gmail.com.
