Brilio.net/en - Some people still consider train stations as a dirty place. Because stations are crowded by people from all over, it tends to get unclean really fast if its not cared for properly. Because train stations are essential in a citys effort to provide transportation to the masses, designing clean and efficient stations are paramount.
This is the reason why an architecture student from Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), Rigan Satria Putra, became interested in making a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station design with a green station concept. This concept applies to independent sustainable energy combined with eco-friendly green plants.
I put gardens on the roof as a greening element and also to filter the dirty air," said Rigan to brilio.net, Wednesday (22/4)
"Some of the sloped roofs are made of solar panel cells, so that the abundant sunlight in Jakarta can be used for electrical energy.
Rigans design successfully won the second place in IAI National Competition for the Lebak Bulus Jakarta MRT station concept idea. Ultimately Rigan wants all stations in Indonesia to apply this green station concept, not only in Jakarta.
