With the advent of smartphones, people in Pangala, North Toraja, have snapped selfies with their dead friends and relatives during the old ceremony, which is called Ma'nene, or The Ceremony of Cleaning Corpses. You can read a little more about the festival here.
The bodies are taken out of tombs dug into cliffs and high rocks and treated with great reverence.
