Nokia unveils its high-tech virtual reality camera dubbed the Ozo

The alluring gadget targeted at professional content creators will cost around $60,000.

Brilio.net/en - Virtual reality has almost solidified itself as the future of high-tech gadgets.

Nokia, the once-mobile phone giant has unveiled its newest innovation in the form of a virtual reality camera. The Finnish company touts that the Ozo virtual reality camera is the first professional VR camera in the world.

"Expertly created. Intelligently designed. Purpose-built. OZO is the world's first professional Virtual Reality camera,"saysNokia. "Capturing 360 spherical video and 360x360 surround sound with unique interactive monitoring, OZO increases both the quality and efficiency of Virtual Reality production."

The body of the VR camera resembles a ball and features eight 2K x 2K cameras. The cameras has been placed at an equal distance with each other in order to simulate the experience of seein through human eyeballs and creating a 360 degree field of view. The camera will also feature capabilities to capture stereoscopic 3D and eight built-in microphones.

What makes this particular camera unique is that Nokia has stated that the Ozo will have live-streaming capabilities and can directly produce a feed in real time.

The digital cartridge can store up to 45 minutes of audio and video data.

According to Nokia, the Ozo will be launched in Q1 2016 and is actually already up for pre-order. The main setback? It carries a hefty $60,000 price tag.
