Minimalism is taken seriously in Japan right now

Japan is again setting a new trend to live Victoria Tunggono

Brilio.net/en - As modern people tend to suffer the consumerism lifestyle, the Japanese are getting their hand at a more simple and minimal way of life. Inspired by Zen teachings and traditions, the Japanese are aware that simple lifestyle is based on being grateful with the things that they need and not wanting the unnecessary things. The Zen philosophy has taught them that consumerism is a fleeting satisfaction.

Its not as though you feel satisfied after collecting a certain amount of stuff. Instead, you keep thinking about what youre missing, said Fumio Sasaki, a man who is applying this simple lifestyle.

He has proven that he is happy with only three shirts, four pairs of pants and four pairs of socks in his closet. He feels enough living with only 150 items in his house and not wanting more. Now I feel content with what I have, added Sasaki.

As for the direct results in daily life, some are seeing it as a practical purpose, as Japan is the country that is prone to so many earthquakes. They believe the less one has, the less possibility of injury one could get during the disaster. Another sees it as a practice of sound minimalism and reduce noise, as a lot of Japanese are living in multiple story apartments.

My movement becomes more graceful and pleasant, said Naoki Numahata, another practitioner of the Zen living. (Its) something like what youd learn at a tea ceremony or flower arrangement class.

Numahata added that he thinks all of these things are connected to each other. We all know that the Japanese are keeping their traditions alive and passing them on, and that no matter to the gender they are, they are preserving both of the feminine and masculine cultures. Already known as the tidiest, discipline and highly-cultured people in the world, it seems that Japan is starting a new trend in the modern world.
