Brilio.net - For some Indonesians, it feels like something is missing if they haven't eaten rice for a day. Even though you've snacked a lot, if you haven't eaten rice, well, it's called not eating. It's no surprise that rice is a mandatory food that cannot be replaced.

Rice is so important to society, it is not uncommon for rice as a basic ingredient for cooking rice to always be stored in large quantities. Unfortunately, storing large amounts of rice may not last long and there is a risk of being infested with rice lice. Because of this, the rice smells musty and unpleasant.

Many people then get around storing rice by adding cloves. The strong aroma of cloves is believed to be a big enemy for rice lice, so that rice can last longer. However, if you don't have cloves in stock, don't worry. There are other alternative ways to store rice that are no less effective.

You can copy the method for storing rice so that it lasts longer and doesn't get lice, which was shared by a YouTube account user called @Distoryku Channel.

"I will share tips and how I store rice to avoid fleas and caterpillars. By using natural ingredients and not endangering our health," said the owner of the YouTube account Distoryku Channel as quoted by BrilioFood , Thursday (27/6).

Storing rice relies on natural ingredients to prevent lice.

Reporting from Distoryku Channel, the natural ingredients in question are two types of spices in the form of lemongrass and lime leaves. These two spices produce a distinctive strong aroma and are not liked by rice lice and other insects.

Furthermore, the method is quite easy, prepare a few stalks of lemongrass and a few lime leaves. Then prepare a jar for storing rice, small clear plastic, and chopsticks.

So that the aroma comes out even more, the lemongrass stems are crushed first. If so, fold it into two parts. Put the lemongrass in a small plastic bag and tie it. After that, poke holes in several parts of the plastic using chopsticks so that the aroma spreads.

Place the plastic containing the lemongrass stalks at the bottom of the jar where you store the rice. Then arrange a few lime leaves on top. Once finished, then put the rice into the jar, then close it tightly.

Apparently this method can be applied even if you store rice using sacks, you know. The method is the same, just insert the crushed lemongrass stalks into the plastic. Then pile the lemongrass with rice. Don't forget to tie the sack tightly, okay?
