Brilio.net - Kedondong is one of the tropical fruits that is easily found in Indonesia. With its distinctive fresh sour taste, kedondong is often used as an ingredient for rujak, pickles, or enjoyed directly as a snack. In addition to its appetizing taste, kedondong is also known to be rich in vitamin C and fiber, making it a good choice for maintaining body health.

However, behind its deliciousness, there is a challenge in enjoying kedondong fruit. The process of cutting this fruit requires extra care because of its prickly seeds on the inside. These hard and prickly seeds are not only difficult to separate, but also risk injuring the hands. Therefore, the right skills and tools are needed to avoid injury when cutting this fruit.

Many people then look for ways to split and cut kedondong safely. Not a few even use creative methods, such as Instagram user @zen_garden01. This man named Zen uploaded a video of himself trying to split kedondong the old-fashioned way . Instead of using a knife or other sharp object, he relies on furniture at home to split kedondong faster, safer, and saves energy.

As reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @zen_garden01 on Sunday (10/11), the furniture in question is a door. More precisely, he uses the door hinge to split the kedondong which has a hard and sturdy texture. So, the kedondong will later be clamped in the door hinge until it splits by itself.

Instagram user @zen_garden01 then explained further about how to split a kedondong in one of the videos uploaded. First, he picked one kedondong. Then placed it on top of the door hinge. Make sure the door is really sturdy, okay.

Next, Zen slowly closes the door while holding the kedondong placed on its hinges. This will make the kedondong pinched, pressed, and eventually split into two parts. Once it has split, you can reopen the door and take the kedondong.

Well, this kedondong can be washed clean and then enjoyed. Instagram user @zen_garden01 chose to eat it with rujak sauce that looked delicious. After investigating, it turns out that splitting the kedondong this way can also make it taste sweeter.

This pinching process actually helps to break down the cell walls of the fruit, which then triggers the release of certain enzymes and substances that can change the chemical composition of the fruit. One result of this process is the conversion of starch to sugar, which increases the sweetness of the ambarella. When the cell walls of the fruit are broken, the enzymes found in the ambarella can work more effectively to break down complex compounds into simpler, sweeter ones.

In addition, this physical pressure can also stimulate the release of more juice from the fruit flesh, creating a sweeter taste and a juicy texture. Zen's action in splitting the kedondong immediately attracted the attention of netizens. Among the more than 927 thousand viewers, there were many other Instagram users who also gave direct responses in the comments column.

" If I use a door to clamp the lute, if I use a kedondong, I'll slam it until it cracks ," said Instagram user @gitanamahmoed.

" Banging on the floor when we were little tasted sweeter ," said Instagram @alfatehmaharani.

" It's true that when I was a child, even though there was a knife, I would always clamp it between the door and it would taste more savory than peeling it ," wrote the Instagram account @aft__de.

" Eating dondong clamped to the door, it turns out there are many of the same ones, " commented the Instagram account @enda.ng2357.
