Tricks to restore freshness to petai that have become shriveled and soft.

Reported by BrilioFood from the TikTok account @habibahismail2 on Tuesday (16/4), the first thing to do is peel the petai first. Peel the skin and take the seeds from the inside of the petai. If you find it difficult to peel, you can split the petals in half, then move the split seeds.

So, collect the petai seeds in a container or basin. After that, pour enough water until the entire surface of the petai is completely submerged. If so, place this container on the table (room temperature) and let the petai soak for approximately 1 hour.

Basically, this soaking process will make the petai absorb more water. This will make the petai shape expand and the texture will be denser. So, if it has been soaked, drain the soaking water.

If there is still epidermis attached, you can separate it manually with your hands. That way, fresh petai can be immediately cooked into various kinds of menus. Guaranteed to be tastier and the texture is crunchy like fresh petai.
