There is a special technique for boiling chayote. If boiled directly until cooked, the color can turn pale and brownish. A netizen named Desyanti shared a trick for boiling chayote so that it remains beautiful in color and perfectly cooked.

Prepare the chayote first. Desyanti is known to use baby chayote, so the size is smaller than regular chayote. The chayote can be peeled first or not. However, make sure the chayote is washed thoroughly before boiling.

Heat the water in a saucepan over medium heat until it boils. Then add all the whole chayote that you want to boil. Cook for five minutes, then turn off the heat immediately. Cover the pan containing the boiled chayote and let it sit for 30 minutes.

After letting it sit, boil the chayote again over medium heat for seven minutes. After seven minutes and the heat is turned off, cover the pan again and let it sit for a while to help the chayote cook through but not change color.
