Brilio.net - When using a new mud cake mold for the first time, some people experience problems. When opened from the packaging, the mold is usually filled with black powder that sticks to its surface. This black powder can come from the production process, packaging, or even from the metal material of the mold itself.
Cleaning the black powder from the new mud cake mold requires a little effort. This is because soap alone is not enough to remove the black powder that sticks to the surface of the mold. Therefore, another more effective method is needed so that the mold can be used safely and hygienically.
Luckily, an Instagram user @nichaluthfiah once shared how to wash a new mud cake mold through one of the videos she uploaded. She admitted that she not only washed it with soap, but also smeared the mold with oil and heated it repeatedly. This method can remove the remaining black powder that really sticks.

As reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @nichaluthfiah on Friday (20/9), the first thing to do is wash the mold using a sponge and dish soap. After that, dry it first. If you want it to be faster, wipe it using a dry cloth or tissue.

Next, heat the mold over medium heat. While it is heating, apply cooking oil to the mold evenly using a brush. Now, this oil will later mix with the black powder that is still attached.

After that, turn off the stove. Then let the oil pool on the concave side of the mold. Then wipe it using tissue to remove the oil that has mixed with dirt.

Once it has been wiped clean, heat the mold again until it smokes. Then apply oil again evenly. After that, wipe it using tissue. Repeat this process until when wiped, the tissue is completely clean and there is no more black powder.

Next, wash the mold again with dish soap. Finally, dry it first. Only then is the mold ready to be used to make various cakes or even mini egg martabak.
