Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, TB Hasanuddin, gave a sharp criticism of Deddy Corbuzier's statement mocking students who complained about the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program menu. According to Hasanuddin, as a public figure, Deddy's statement does not reflect the wisdom he should have.
Hasanuddin emphasized that Deddy Corbuzier, who is an active TNI soldier, has the potential to be subject to military disciplinary sanctions, even military criminal law. "In accordance with applicable regulations, soldiers can be subject to military disciplinary sanctions," he told reporters on Sunday (1/26/2025).
In the Military Disciplinary Regulations (PDM) article 5, every soldier is required to uphold the norms, ethics, and honor of soldiers and avoid behavior that can tarnish the good name of the TNI. Hasanuddin also emphasized that the 8 TNI obligations require every soldier to be friendly to the people and not to scare or hurt the people.
"By considering both articles, Deddy's attitude and statements can be categorized as a violation of military discipline, so that disciplinary punishment can be imposed according to applicable procedures," explained the member of Commission I of the DPR from the PDIP faction.
On January 17, 2025, Deddy Corbuzier criticized students' complaints about the MBG menu, stating that children should be grateful for the free food they are given. He even talked about how he educates his children, which he said, if his children complain about food, he will slap them.

Deddy's statement also received a response from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), which assessed that the MBG program aims to improve the quality of health and nutritional fulfillment of children and pregnant women. KPAI revealed that criticism from children can be an effective monitoring system for the MBG program.
"Children certainly have their own favorite foods, so it's natural for them to compare it with what they feel from the program," said Deputy Chair of KPAI, Jasra Putra.

Jasra added that children's opinions on the MBG program must be ascertained whether it was done spontaneously or they already understood it. KPAI will provide input to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) based on the results of ongoing supervision.

KPAI emphasizes that all parties must understand the importance of empathy for children's feelings, which can affect their psychological development. Every child's participation in this program must be appreciated and protected from discrimination.
